Why Are Parents Sending Their Children To An International School In Bangkok, Thailand?

Over the past several years, there has been an emerging trend in the education sector. A lot of parent now want their children to go through an international school.  Why is this so and what advantages does an international school offer that a regular school does not? What is pushing this trend?

1. Globalization.
In the beginning, international schools were formed in order to give the children of expats and diplomats education that they found back home. Most of them were from the West, and so Western education was the main curricula in those schools.
The proliferation of air travel, the connectivity that phone lines and the internet have brought to the world have made it a small place to be in. The international companies that operate in country value employees who have been educated in country, on Western education.

Parents are now deciding to put their children through an international school in Bangkok, Thailand in general, in order to expose them to the same education that the children of expats are receiving. This helps when it comes to looking for placements in universities in the West as well as put their children on a similar platform and opportunity for job placements in the international companies.

2. A different perspective.
Globalization has opened up new opportunities for people of all types. Taking advantage of those opportunities is another matter altogether. By sending children to an international school, the child will be exposed to different cultures that are exotic to that of their own. This gives them an opportunity to immerse themselves in the diverse cultures of the world and learn new perspectives.

These perspectives will come in handy later in life when the now-grown up child decides to venture out into the world. If they do decide to venture into, for example, outsourcing, the experience they had with different cultures will be an asset to them when doing business with people from different parts of the world.

International education is the vehicle by which a majority of the world will be bridging the educational, cultural and linguistic gaps worldwide. As the world gets more integrated, every organization will need people who are conversant and can safely navigate the complexities that contrasting cultures bring with them.

KIS International School Thailand, is situated in Bangkok, an expat hub. It is an international school that embraces kids from every nationality from the age of 3 (beginning of the program) to 18 (graduating age).
